TV Food: The Heisenburger (Breaking Bad, S01)

In celebrating the series finale of Breaking Bad, I made 5 meals to represent the 5 seasons of the epic series.

Season 1- BREAKFAST

The Heisenburger with Blue Salt Fries
The TV phenomenon that is Breaking Bad. The series starts with Walter White celebrating his 50 years over breakfast with his family.

Walter White's big 50

Breakfast turned into a recurring joke for fans because most of Walter White Jr.'s scenes happens during breakfast. In this recipe, I used the usual breakfast staple and made a breakfast burger. It is accompanied with french fries which is seasoned with "blue salt".

"Heisenburger" (Breakfast Burger) with Blue Salt Fries

For the burger:
breakfast staple

2 burger buns
2 eggs
4 strips bacon
2 slices Spam, about 2 inches thick
2 cheese singles
1 tbsp sriracha
1 tbsp ketchup

For the fries:
snort, snort

2 large potatoes, cut into batons
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
a drop of blue food coloring
oil for deep frying

Heat a non-stick grill pan over medium heat and grill spam and bacon until cooked. Set aside. Reduce heat and toast the burger buns. About 2 minutes each side. In a frying pan, fry the egg until desired doneness of the yolk. Mix sriracha and ketchup to make the sauce. Assemble the burger by placing the spam, cheese, bacon, egg and top with the sauce.

In making the fries: Rinse cut potatoes with cold water. Heat oil in a dutch oven or deep fryer. Just when bubbles start to form in the oil, drop potatoes (don't wait for the oil to become too hot). While the potatoes are cooking, mix food coloring and the salt. Remove potatoes when done and season with salt and pepper.
